PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCU) — Asheville, NC

Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 13-Week Contract

This cardiac stepdown unit cares for a high-acuity cardiovascular population, including patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, and DKA, as well as post-procedure patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stenting, pacemaker/ICD placement, and ablation. Bedside cardioversion is performed on the unit.

Required Experience & Skills

• Stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry monitoring experience
• Proficiency with titratable cardiac IV medications, including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and diuretics (Bumex/Lasix)

Preferred Skills

• Experience with prostacyclin therapy (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge nurse experience

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS

Schedule & Expectations

• Night shift: 18:45–07:15
• Every other weekend required
• Float coverage to Med/Surg, stepdown, and ER holding areas
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Dress Code

All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants
