Emergency Department RN — Travel Contract | Rochester, NY

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Days, 3x12-hour shifts (alternating 07:00–19:00 and 11:00–23:00) | Start: November 2026

This combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department manages a high volume of visits daily, caring for patients across all age groups — neonates through geriatrics — at mixed and shared acuity levels. The unit is fast-paced and requires confident, independent clinical judgment.

Schedule & Expectations

• Alternating day shifts (7a and 11a starts)
• Every other weekend required
• Float when census warrants
• Minimal requested time off; no more than 10 days RTO per contract

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS

Clinical Skills Required

• Phlebotomy and IV placement (mandatory competency)
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Central line care and management
• Blood product administration
• IV vasopressors, continuous IV paralytics, and sedation
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• CVA management
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Psychiatric holds and suicidal patient care
• Isolation precautions/PPE
• 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of ED experience (first-time travelers considered)
• Active New York RN license required at time of submission
• Electronic health record experience required (preferred in ED setting)
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
• No pending licenses accepted
