Neuro ICU RN — Travel Contract | Columbia, SC

Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (07:00–19:30) | 13-Week Contract

This Neuro ICU position is ideal for experienced critical care nurses with a strong neurological background. The unit manages adult and geriatric patients with complex neuro diagnoses, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), post-operative neurosurgery, and neurovascular interventions.

Clinical Scope & Skills Required:

• External ventricular drain (EVD) and lumbar drain management
• ICP monitoring and CVA/acute stroke management
• Post-neurosurgery patient care
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
• Central line and arterial line management
• Blood product administration and continuous IV sedation
• BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• IV insulin protocols and renal failure management
• ABG interpretation and dysrhythmia management

Shift & Scheduling Details:

• Day shift, three 12-hour shifts per week
• 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Float requirement: staff may be floated to qualified units at other campuses based on census needs

Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience (strong neuro background required)
• At least 1 year of recent experience with a major EMR system
• Competency with EVD management is essential

Orientation: 40 hours; begins Mondays

Vaccines: Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required

The unit is supported by an interdisciplinary team including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, rapid response, and social services.
