Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Location: San Luis Obispo, CA

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3×12 or 4×12 schedule)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week

About the Role

Join the Emergency Department as an RN providing comprehensive care to patients from newborns to geriatrics. You'll perform assessments, direct treatment, manage discharge planning, and respond to acute emergencies including Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Activations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate and notify the Emergency MD of abnormal findings 100% of the time
• Manage patient orders, medication administration, and IV therapy including blood products
• Educate patients on medication side effects and provide thorough discharge instructions
• Recognize and respond to cardiac/respiratory distress and impending emergencies
• Interpret ECG rhythms and manage life-threatening emergencies
• Maintain indwelling catheters and drains; operate critical care equipment safely
• Document all care clearly, accurately, and timely

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent in nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Minimum 1 year recent acute care experience
• Current RN license (state of practice)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• TNCC required within 6 months of hire
• Recent emergency department experience required
