Operating Room Nurse – 13-Week Contract
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Operating Room. You'll provide direct perioperative nursing care across a range of surgical specialties in a fast-paced surgical environment. This role requires flexibility, strong technical skills, and the ability to function as both a circulating and scrub nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform circulating and scrub nursing duties across general surgery, orthopedic, gynecologic, urologic, ENT, and other surgical specialties
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
- Conduct pre-operative patient assessments; verify surgical site, consent, and procedures per protocol
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
- Monitor patient safety and status throughout surgical cases
- Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure availability and proper function
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team members
- Assist with patient positioning, prep, and post-operative handoff to recovery staff
- Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact license)
- Minimum 1 year of general OR experience
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- ADN or BSN (BSN preferred)
- Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles
- CNOR certification preferred
Schedule
- Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Call-up availability up to 36 hours
- One weekend every 6 weeks
- 13-week contract
- Start date: November 22, 2026
