PACU / Phase II Recovery Nurse — Day Shift | Torrance, CA | 13-Week Contract

This PACU position supports a full spectrum of post-operative and procedural patients, from pediatrics through geriatrics. The unit manages Phase II recovery and patient discharge following surgical, cath lab, and interventional procedures.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 5×8-hour shifts (06:00–14:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No float, no on-call
• No scheduling requests can be accommodated — flexibility is essential

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience *plus* ER or ICU background
• Phase II and discharge experience required
• Active California RN license (no pending or temporary licenses accepted)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• First-time travelers welcome

Clinical Scope

• Patient population: pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
• Post-op recovery, pre/post cath lab, pre/post endoscopy, pre/post IR procedures
• Phase II recovery and discharge planning
• Skills utilized include: airway assessment, conscious sedation, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), reversal agents, medication reconciliation, IV placement and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and discharge instruction delivery
• Interdisciplinary support available: pharmacy, respiratory services, radiology, rapid response, and more

Submission Requirements

• Two supervisory references (within the past year; no charge RN references accepted)
• Any prior employment at this facility system must be disclosed at time of submission
• Previous permanent employees must meet a separation requirement before being eligible
• Maximum 10 days RTO; none permitted in the first two weeks; all RTO must be submitted at time of application
