Travel RN – Orthopedics/Med-Surg Night Shift | Maryville, TN

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12 (18:45–07:15) | Start: November 2, 2026

About the Unit

This adult orthopedic/med-surg unit cares for an adult and geriatric population with a daily census of 15–20 patients. The unit is supported by an interdisciplinary team that includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response. Travelers are expected to float to like units based on demonstrated competencies.

Schedule & Coverage

• 3×12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend required (may shift based on census needs)
• Float to similar units may be required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Tennessee or a multistate compact license
• Minimum 1 year of experience in orthopedics or med-surg specialty
• Prior travel experience required — first-time travelers are not accepted
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of electronic medical records experience required

Clinical Skills

• Blood product administration
• Central line blood draw and PICC line management
• Peripheral line care and port access/management
• IV insertion and maintenance
• Telemetry monitoring
• Feeding tube and colostomy/ileostomy care
• Peripheral nerve block catheter management
• Bariatric and total joint replacement patient care
• Ortho trauma experience preferred

Additional Details

• Charge experience preferred
• Teaching and community hospital experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
• Pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials (up to 16 hours reimbursable)
• Orientation held on Mondays
