Progressive Care / Step-Down RN — Travel Contract

Days | 13 Weeks | Maryville, TN

This step-down unit cares for adult patients requiring close monitoring and intermediate-level nursing care. The unit manages a broad range of diagnoses and acuity levels, including cardiac, neurological, oncological, post-surgical, and renal patients.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend rotation: one shift every two weeks
• Float requirement: must be willing to float to other units based on census needs

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Clinical Skills — Core Expectations

• Cardiac telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols
• Central line, PICC, and arterial line management
• Chest tube, tracheostomy, and surgical drain care
• High-flow nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Post-TPA care, CVA management, and traumatic brain injury monitoring
• Wound care/wound vac, continuous bladder irrigation, PCA management
• Blood product administration and phlebotomy

Preferred Experience

• Charge nurse experience
• Community hospital and/or LTAC background

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of step-down or progressive care RN experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience with the electronic health record system used at this facility
• Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required
• 72-hour orientation; pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials (up to 16 hours reimbursable)
