Step-Down / Progressive Care Nurse — Travel Contract

Maryville, TN | Days | 13-Week Contract

This travel RN opportunity is on a busy step-down/progressive care unit serving an adult patient population with a wide range of high-acuity medical and surgical diagnoses. The unit provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams.

Shift & Schedule

• Weekend coverage required: one shift every two weeks

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Clinical Skills & Scope

The ideal candidate is comfortable managing a diverse, acuity-driven patient load. Key clinical competencies include:

• Arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin and heparin protocols
• High-flow nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Care of ventilated patients; tracheostomy care
• CVA/post-TPA care, traumatic brain injury, and seizure management
• Chemotherapy administration and port access
• Blood product administration and thrombolytic agents
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization and angiogram care
• Wound care, surgical drains, and PCA management

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of step-down or progressive care experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required; no first-time travelers
• Minimum 1 year of experience with an electronic health record system is required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Details

• Orientation: 72 hours (begins Mondays)
• Pre-assignment modules required within 48 hours of system access (up to 16 hours reimbursable)
• Float to qualified units may be required based on census needs
• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
