Labor & Delivery RN – Family Birthing Center

Assignment Overview

Join the Family Birthing Center as an L&D RN in a busy labor and delivery unit. This 14-week contract offers 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) with every-other-weekend rotation and first-to-float responsibility to other Sacramento facilities.

Clinical Scope

Requirements

• Experience: Must have direct L&D, antepartum, and postpartum experience, including hands-on delivery attendance. First-time travelers will not be considered.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (copy required at application).
• Preferred: NRP provider role and ability to attend deliveries ("catch the baby"). This skill is especially valued for night shifts.
• Other: EKG strip reading and interpretation required. Charge nurse support and nurse aides available.

Orientation & Schedule

Expect 2–4 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor. Schedules post 4 weeks in advance with self-scheduling availability; mid-shift floats to other facilities may occur. Extra shifts and overtime available. 30-minute call response time if placed on call.

Guarantees & Logistics

36 guaranteed hours per week. Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Scrubs provided.
