Pediatric Emergency Room – Travel RN | Des Moines, IA
Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Afternoons/Mids, 11:00 AM start | Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week
About the Role
This pediatric nursing position serves a dynamic unit caring for patients across Hematology/Oncology, Medical-Surgical, and a broad range of pediatric specialties. Nurses may float between the PICU, NICU, and general pediatric floors based on unit needs.
Schedule Details
- 3x12-hour shifts per week (11:00 AM start)
- Every 4th weekend
- Holiday rotation required — expect to work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
- No on-call required
Requirements
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license (required at time of submission)
- Minimum 24 months of pediatric experience within the past 24 months
- Pediatric Emergency Room experience within the past 15 months
- At least one completed travel nursing contract within the past 18 months (no first-time travelers)
- BLS – American Heart Association (required)
- PALS – American Heart Association (required)
- TNCC (required)
- De-escalation certification (preferred)
- Skills checklist specific to Pediatric/Pediatric Emergency Room nursing (required)
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager within the past 24 months (preferred)
