Med/Surg Travel Nurse — Nashville, TN

Nights | 13-Week Contract

This Med/Surg unit manages a diverse, high-acuity patient population including stroke and seizure patients, post-operative surgical cases, and patients requiring dialysis or pain management support. The unit operates with daily unit secretary coverage and PRN tech support, fostering a collaborative, team-driven environment where travel nurses are held to the same standards and recognition as core staff.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling block
• Float requirement: over core staff as needed

Clinical Scope

• Patient population requiring wound care, tracheostomy, ostomy, drain, and chest tube management
• Post-op procedures include amputations, ostomy, oral surgeries, chest tubes, and wound vacs
• Experience with PD cyclers, PCA pumps, and heparin drips required
• Bedside shift report, hourly safety checks, and strong communication skills expected

Required Certifications

• BLS
• NIHSS

Unit Expectations

• HAI prevention protocols
• CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
• Fall prevention compliance
• 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances

Dress Code

Navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue scrubs
