Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Lexington, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 2, 2026

About the Role

You'll provide direct nursing care to adult patients on a medical-surgical and telemetry unit. Your responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, continuous cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and coordinated discharge planning. You'll work closely with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Key Duties

• Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor vital signs and cardiac rhythms; recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips, per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, chronic, and acute conditions
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Ensure adherence to infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 1+ years of medical-surgical/telemetry experience
• Demonstrated competency in telemetry and EKG interpretation
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted
