Medical-Surgical Stroke Stepdown Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical nurse for a night shift position on a stroke stepdown unit. You'll provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment managing post-stroke patients and medically complex adults.
Shift Details
- Schedule: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 weekly
- Start Date: December 7, 2026
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Unit & Patient Population
The stroke stepdown unit cares for adult patients with a range of diagnoses, including:
- Acute and post-stroke patients
- Altered mental status
- Renal failure and dialysis patients
- COPD and CHF
- ia and pulmonary complications
- General medical-surgical patients
You'll manage IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes as part of routine care.
Requirements
- 2+ years Medical-Surgical nursing experience with stroke stepdown background
- Demonstrated travel nursing experience
- Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certification (NIHSS can be obtained before your start date)
- Active New York RN License
- Valid driver's license with matching demographics
- Willingness to float to other units as needed
