Medical-Surgical Stroke Stepdown Nurse — Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical nurse for its stroke stepdown unit. This is a night shift position working 12-hour blocks, 3 days per week, for a 13-week contract.
About the Unit
You'll care for adult patients recovering from acute stroke and other complex medical conditions. Common diagnoses include stroke, altered mental status, renal issues requiring dialysis, COPD, CHF, ia, and pulmonary conditions. The unit uses IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes as part of routine care. Floating to other units is required.
Schedule & Logistics
- Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour blocks
- Days per week: 3
- Guaranteed hours: 36 weekly
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Location: Local candidates within 75 miles preferred
Requirements
- 2+ years Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Documented stroke stepdown experience
- Documented travel nursing experience
- Current AHA BLS certification
- NIHSS certification (may be obtained before start)
- Active New York RN license
- Valid driver's license with matching address
Additional Information
Navy blue scrubs required. Block scheduling is not guaranteed. Travel experience is required.
