Medical-Surgical Stroke Stepdown RN — Night Shift | Utica, NY
This 13-week contract places you on a fast-paced Medical-Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit caring for adult patients across a broad range of acute diagnoses. Night shift runs 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12s); guaranteed hours are 36 per week. Local candidates (within 75 miles) are welcome to apply.
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
The unit manages adults presenting with stroke, altered mental status, renal disease requiring dialysis, COPD, CHF, ia, pulmonary conditions, isolation precautions, and general medical-surgical diagnoses. You'll routinely work with IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes.
Unit Details
- Schedule: Night shift, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Floating to other units is required
- Scrub color: Navy blue
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience with stroke stepdown background
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Active, unencumbered New York RN license (verified via NURSYS)
- Current AHA BLS certification
- NIHSS certification required (may be obtained prior to start date)
- Requested time off must be submitted at the time of application
