Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) — Travel RN

Reston, VA | Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 13-Week Contract

This CVICU position supports a newly launched cardiac surgery program, offering an opportunity to be part of a growing, specialized care team from the ground up. The unit focuses on the direct primary recovery of fresh cardiac surgery patients, managing high-acuity post-operative care through the immediate post-surgical period and beyond.

Shift & Scheduling

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 hours per week (guaranteed)
• 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks

Clinical Scope

• Primary nursing model with unit secretary and tech support
• Procedures include hemodynamic monitoring and management of patients requiring intra-aortic balloon pump and mechanical circulatory support

Required Skills & Certifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience with fresh cardiac surgery patients in a direct primary recovery setting
• ACLS required
• Balloon pump experience required
• Impella experience required
• Hemosphere or Acumen monitoring experience required

Floating

• Floating may be required; same patient ratios apply on any floated unit

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
