Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) — Travel RN | Reston, VA
Days | 13-Week Contract
This CVICU opportunity supports a newly launched cardiac surgery program, offering experienced cardiac nurses the chance to be part of a pioneering clinical team. The unit provides primary nursing care for fresh post-cardiac-surgery patients, managing high-acuity recovery from immediate post-op through POD 1–3.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 36 hours per week (three 12-hour shifts)
- 3 weekend shifts required every 4 weeks
Patient Population & Acuity
- Ongoing post-operative care through POD 1–3
- Primary nursing model with unit secretary and tech support
Required Skills & Certifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of direct experience recovering fresh cardiac surgery patients
- ACLS certification (required)
- Balloon pump and Impella proficiency
- Hemosphere or Acumen monitoring experience
Float Policy
Floating may occur; same patient ratio as the assigned unit will be maintained.
Dress Code
Navy blue scrubs required.
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
