Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) RN — Travel Contract

Morgantown, WV | Nights | 13 Weeks

This CVICU position focuses on high-acuity cardiothoracic surgical patients in a specialized cardiac care unit. The unit manages direct post-operative admissions from the OR following open-heart procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, open valve replacements, thoracotomies, and carotid endarterectomies. Additional patient populations include cardiogenic shock, post-STEMI, complicated cardiac catheterization, and post-code patients.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Weekdays and weekends required; blocked schedules considered
• Start date: ASAP | Contract: 13 weeks with possible extension

Required Experience (2+ years)

• Direct fresh open-heart admissions from the OR
• Activated Clotting Time (ACT) — mandatory
• Swan-Ganz catheter management
• Impella monitoring
• CRRT/CVVHD
• Arterial line management, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration
• Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), LVAD/RVAD, TAVR
• Ventilator management, chest tube care, procedural sedation

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS

Licensure

• West Virginia RN license or compact license required; pending license accepted

Additional Details

• May float to Medical ICU or Step-Down Unit
• Scrubs: Not provided
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
