Medical-Surgical RN – Night Shift | Wheeling, WV

Contract: 13 weeks | Start: November 2, 2026

Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 36 guaranteed hours/week

Unit Overview

This acute care Medical-Surgical unit manages a diverse general medicine population. A charge RN is present on the floor with a patient assignment, and PCTs support the nursing staff. Telemetry is monitored remotely by dedicated monitor technicians.

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, ia, urosepsis, AKI, cellulitis, cholecystitis, and appendicitis. RNs are expected to titrate heparin drips based on APTT results. Intermittent BIPAP is used on the unit; ventilator management is not required.

Scheduling & Expectations

• Weekends: approximately every other weekend as scheduled
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating may occur based on census; travelers are prioritized for float assignments

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• NIHSS

Additional Requirements

• Must reside or be willing to comply with a 50-mile radius rule
• Valid, unexpired driver's license required at submission
• Any licensing discrepancies must be disclosed at time of submission
• BSN not required
