Medical-Surgical RN – Travel Contract | Des Moines, IA

Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3×12s, 36 hrs/week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 9, 2026

About the Unit

This medical-surgical unit manages a diverse patient population including general med-surg, renal, urology, and transplant cases. Nurses will float across multiple campuses as part of this assignment — candidates must be comfortable working in varied settings within the same health system.

Schedule Details

• Every 3rd weekend required
• Holiday rotation required; must be available to work Thanksgiving and up to 2 winter holidays
• On-call: | Callback: 1.5× with 2-hour minimum

Scrubs: Navy Blue

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of Med-Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Strong renal and urology experience required
• Transplant care proficiency required
• At least one completed travel contract within the previous 15 months
• Level II trauma experience required (Level I highly preferred)
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)

Required Documentation

• Med-surg-specific skills checklist
• Current resume reflecting qualifying experience
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager within the past 24 months
• Valid driver's license

Note: This position is open to travelers only. Candidates who have worked at the facility as an FTE or PRN within the past 12 months are not eligible.
