PCU / Stepdown

Float Pool RN — Inpatient Units | Parkersburg, WV

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: 12-hour days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Guarantee: 48 hours/week

This float pool position covers all inpatient units based on competency, including ICU, step-down, and medical/surgical. Candidates should have a strong med/surg background; step-down experience is preferred.

Clinical Scope

• Patient populations include cardiac, orthopedic/neurological, surgical, and general medical
• Step-down RNs are required to titrate drips including heparin, Cardizem, nitro, cardene, insulin, dobutamine, dopamine, activase, esmolol, lidocaine, labetalol, amiodarone, procainamide, aggrastat, and verapamil
• CPAP and BiPAP present across all units; ventilators managed in ICU; chronic trach vents may be placed in step-down
• Monitor techs on unit; RNs responsible for reading telemetry strips

Scheduling

• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement; standby possible if census is low
• Daily unit assignments are obtained by calling the staffing office

Support & Structure

• Nurse aides available on unit
• Free charge coverage on day shift Monday–Friday; house supervisor available 24/7
• 3–4 shift unit-specific orientation

Requirements

• BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) required
• BSN not required
• Active RN license required at time of submission
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
