PCU / Stepdown

MedSurg Stepdown & Floor RN — Morgantown, WV

Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: October 12, 2026

Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | 12-hour shifts | Weekends and holidays as scheduled

Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

This combined MedSurg Stepdown and Floor unit manages a diverse acute care population across both higher-acuity stepdown and general medical-surgical patients. RNs must be comfortable working in either area depending on staffing needs.

Clinical Scope:

• Stepdown and general MedSurg patient populations
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Telemetry is present on the unit; RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips (tele techs post strips each shift, but independent strip interpretation is expected)
• Respiratory therapy is available in-house 24/7; ventilated patients are present on the unit
• Charge Nurse and Transport RN support available during day shift hours

Unit Support:

• 2–5 Certified Nursing Assistants typically on shift
• Charge Nurse coverage at optimal staffing levels

Requirements:

• Active RN license (willing to wait for licensure)
• BLS required; ACLS a plus
• MedSurg Stepdown experience required
• BSN not required
• COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

• Float to other units possible based on staffing needs
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
