General Surgery Operating Room Nurse
Position Overview
The facility's General Surgery department provides comprehensive surgical services for abdominal, soft tissue, and trauma cases. You'll work as a circulator supporting a range of procedures in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Shift & Schedule
- Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (base hours)
- On-call: 10 shifts per month, including one weekend (Friday–Sunday, 24-hour shifts); call runs 3:30 PM–7:00 AM
- Holiday requirements: Must work Thanksgiving Day/Friday after, Christmas Eve–Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve–New Year's Day (plus weekends as scheduled)
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
Clinical Scope
You'll assist with a variety of general surgical procedures, including:
- Appendectomy, bowel obstruction relief, complex laceration repair
- Colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy
- Laparoscopic and open cholecystectomy, hernia repairs (inguinal, umbilical, incisional)
- Soft tissue mass excision, excisional biopsies, hemorrhoid procedures
- Oncologic surgery (breast and colon), antireflux surgery, skin grafting
Requirements
- 2+ years current OR experience in a hospital setting
- Strong circulator background with ortho experience
- 3+ months travel nursing experience
- Valid Vermont RN license (or Compact)
- Active American Heart Association BLS
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Own vehicle required
