This is a long-term contract role (running through May 2027) covering an extended leave of absence. Candidates must be open to the full contract length. The position works independently within the infection prevention department at an acute care facility.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- No weekends or holidays
Clinical Scope
The Infection Preventionist will manage a broad range of infection control functions, including:
- Surveillance and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)
- Antibiotic stewardship and MDRO management
- Compliance with CDC guidelines, TJC standards, and NHSN reporting
- Transmission-based precautions (contact, droplet, airborne)
- Environmental and equipment cleaning oversight
- Surgical site infection (SSI) monitoring
- Employee education related to infection prevention
- TB screening, sharps safety, PPE compliance, and isolation practices
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of infection prevention experience (required)
- Acute care experience required
- CIC certification required
- Degree in Public Health, Lab Sciences, Microbiology, or a related health science field accepted; RN license not required
- House Supervisors with infection prevention experience will be considered
- At least 1 year of relevant experience required; first-time travelers accepted
