Oncology Nurse – Medical/Surgical Oncology Unit | Richmond, VA
13-Week Contract | Days | 36 Hours/Week Guaranteed
This travel nursing position is on a medical/surgical oncology unit in Richmond, Virginia. The unit provides care for oncology patients, including administration of chemotherapy, and is recognized as a Dedicated Education Unit with a focus on patient experience excellence.
Shift Details
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 4 weekend days required per scheduling period (Saturday and Sunday)
- Float as needed
Unit Overview
- Medical/surgical oncology patient population
- Procedures include chemotherapy administration
- PCT support available each shift; Unit Secretary present on days
- Mobile phones used for communication between staff, physicians, and patients
- Strong emphasis on patient experience: bedside shift report, hourly safety rounds, and whiteboard communication standards
Requirements
- Medical/surgical nursing background required
- Oncology experience preferred
- Active RN license (Virginia or compact)
- No additional certifications required
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
