Medical Rehabilitation RN – Night Shift | Charleston, WV
Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (discuss with manager)
This inpatient medical rehabilitation unit specializes in complex neurological and musculoskeletal recovery, caring for patients with cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, amputations, neuromuscular disease, and severe deconditioning related to cardiac or respiratory events. Average length of stay is approximately two weeks.
Patients are supported by a dedicated interdisciplinary care team — physiatrist, NP, nurse, therapists, and social worker — collaborating daily on individualized recovery plans. Therapy services are provided three hours per day, Monday through Friday.
Schedule & Expectations
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No call requirement
- Float within scope possible to meet facility needs
- Block schedule requests considered — discuss at interview
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years RN experience; 1 year in-specialty required
- Charge experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
- BLS (AHA only) required; acute care rehab certification preferred
- Active WV or Compact RN license required to start (pending license accepted for submission)
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility (75–99 miles considered case by case)
Additional Details
- Scrub color: Royal Blue and/or White
- Orientation held every other Thursday (approximately 16 hours)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions with documentation accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Two manager or charge nurse references from the past two years required at submission
