Registered Nurse – Intermediate Intensive Care (IMC/IICU)

Columbia, SC | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This intermediate intensive care unit manages high-acuity adult patients presenting with trauma, medical, surgical, and neurological conditions. The unit receives direct admissions, transfers from the ICU, and escalations of care from Rapid Response Teams, with patient monitoring or interventions required every 1–2 hours.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
• Self-scheduling unit

Clinical Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; prior ICU or IICU experience required
• At least 1 completed travel assignment (first-time travelers require 3 years of specialty experience with critical care background)
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Ventilator experience required
• Medication titration skills: cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and insulin drips
• Experience with neurology, trauma, and post-surgical patient populations strongly preferred
• Electronic health record experience: minimum 1 year required

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Licensure

• Active South Carolina RN license or multistate compact license required; pending licensure not accepted

Floating

Agency staff may be asked to float to other units or campuses based on census needs. Floating is limited to areas where documented competencies have been established.

Additional Details

• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules required within 48 hours of contract signing (up to 16 hours reimbursable)
• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
