Cardiac ICU Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Cardiac ICU (CVICU) nurse for a 13-week contract. You'll provide direct care to post-cardiac-surgery patients, acute coronary syndrome cases, and other high-acuity cardiac conditions on the night shift.
Shift & Schedule
- Hours: 7 p.m. – 7 a.m., 3x12-hour shifts per week (4x12 option available)
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Start Date: November 9, 2026 (dependent on orientation and system training)
Requirements
- Active Virginia or Compact License (must be in hand at time of application)
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to float to regular ICU, CV stepdown, and cardiac telemetry units as needed
What to Expect
- System training required (4-hour accelerated class for those with 6+ months recent experience; 2-day class otherwise)
- Floating in rotation with facility staff per Joint Commission standards
- Possible exposure to COVID-19 patients
- Holiday work expected; minimal time-off requests during contract
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); medical exemptions available
- COVID-19 vaccine required; medical/religious exemptions available
