Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department. This is a 13-week contract role working 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM shifts, every other weekend and every other holiday. Guaranteed 36 hours per week.

Clinical Scope

You'll assess and manage patients across the acuity spectrum, from urgent care to critical presentations. Responsibilities include:

• Conducting thorough initial assessments and implementing protocols
• Managing pain assessment and medication administration
• Monitoring and administering vasoactive medications, anticoagulation therapy, and thrombolytic protocols
• Caring for intubated patients, including suctioning, troubleshooting, and weaning support
• Interpreting arterial blood gases, cardiac arrhythmias, and diagnostic results; escalating changes promptly
• Collecting and documenting forensic evidence per protocol
• Identifying and reporting suspected abuse; completing mandated reports for assault, gunshot wounds, stabbings, and burns
• Recognizing patients at risk for violent behavior and implementing appropriate safety interventions
• Creating and communicating comprehensive care plans with discharge preparation
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred)
• Current Massachusetts RN license
• ACLS (current upon hire, or active BLS with AHA ACLS within 60 days)
• PALS within six months of hire
• TNCC, ENPC, and CEN preferred
• 3–5 years ED experience preferred
