Postpartum Nursing – 26-Week Travel Assignment
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for postpartum and mother-baby care. This role is ideal for nurses with at least one year of OB experience looking to expand their skills in high-risk obstetrics and newborn care.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: 4 x 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Weekends: Required to meet staffing needs
- Contract Duration: 26 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Orientation: 40 hours
Clinical Scope
You'll provide comprehensive postpartum and couplet care in a unit that manages high-risk OB patients and serves a culturally diverse population. Your responsibilities include:
- Postpartum assessments and maternal hemorrhage management
- Newborn assessment, thermoregulation, and care
- Assist with cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries
- Breastfeeding support and lactation education
- IV therapy, medication administration, and pain management
- Fetal monitoring and antepartum care
- Baby-Friendly protocols and discharge teaching
Requirements
- Current California RN license (compact license accepted)
- ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications
- Minimum 1 year postpartum/L&D experience
- Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs
- 2 professional references covering the last 1 year (within last 3 years)
Important Notes
- Weekend shifts required; must commit to working 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront; flexibility beyond contracted schedule is expected
- You may float to nearby sister facilities as needed
- Maximum 7 days RTO allowed
