NICU
NICU Registered Nurse | Level III | Night Shift | Apple Valley, CA
This Level III NICU position offers a 13-week contract on a busy night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12s) caring for a high-volume neonatal population on a unit averaging approximately 190 births per month.
Shift & Scheduling
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12-hour shifts
- Weekend coverage: approximately every other weekend; may increase based on unit needs
- Holiday commitment: must work 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO must be submitted at time of application; post-offer requests may not be approved
- No on-call required
Clinical Scope
The unit manages complex neonatal patients including premature infants, RDS, NEC, neonatal sepsis, NAS, hypoglycemia, and hyperbilirubinemia. Common procedures include central line management, PICC line care, UAC/UVC, intubation support, lumbar punctures, ROP exams, high-frequency ventilation, therapeutic hypothermia, and vasoactive drip management (dopamine, dobutamine).
Float
May float to Mother/Baby for infant care; candidates with couplet experience may float fully.
Scrubs: Navy blue
Required Certifications: BLS, NRP (Advanced NRP preferred; standard NRP considered if candidate commits to obtaining advanced prior to start)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; at least 1 year in NICU specifically
- Level III NICU experience required — hard stop
- Travel experience required
- Compact RN license must be in hand at submission
