PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown RN – 13-Week Travel Contract | Uniontown, PA

This stepdown opportunity is a strong fit for cardiac-experienced RNs comfortable managing high-acuity patients in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Unit Overview

The stepdown unit manages a heavy cardiac patient population, including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from the ICU. Nurses serve as the central telemetry monitoring station for the entire facility and must be proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips independently, in addition to support from a monitor tech.

Shift & Schedule

• Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday required)
• Must work either Christmas or New Year's
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Clinical Requirements

• Ability to titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips: Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin
• Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• No sedation drips or vents on this unit
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7; Intensivist coverage daily with on-call after hours
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy both available in-house around the clock

Certifications Required

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (all must be current and unexpired)

• Scrub color: Navy blue (jackets, if worn, must also be navy blue)
• Orientation: 2 preceptor shifts
• Float possibility: ICU as helping hands
• Contract length: 13 weeks | Start date: November 2, 2026
• Cancellation policy: Up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract
