Medical Laboratory Technician

Facility: The facility's laboratory performs a full range of testing to support clinical operations.

Position Overview:

The facility seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician for a 13-week contract assignment. You'll work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory tests accurately and on time, following established protocols and physician orders
• Report results efficiently and accurately in compliance with laboratory procedures
• Record, analyze, and evaluate QC data to maintain testing accuracy and precision
• Maintain equipment through preventive and corrective maintenance; troubleshoot malfunctions and initiate corrective action
• Maintain a safe, efficient work environment through equipment checks, area cleaning, and temperature monitoring per regulatory standards
• Identify and resolve problems affecting test analyses; escalate to supervisors when appropriate
• Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from acceptable guidelines
• Assist with annual departmental inventory
• Evaluate new testing methodologies and contribute to procedure writing
• Stay current with professional knowledge through journal reading and training attendance
• Recommend process improvements for operational efficiency

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Medical Technology, related science field, or equivalent experience
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with discretion
