Medical Laboratory Technician

Position Overview

The facility seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the laboratory team on a 13-week contract. This is a night shift position working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests accurately and efficiently following established procedures and physician orders
• Record, analyze, and interpret Quality Control (QC) data to ensure accuracy and precision
• Operate and maintain advanced laboratory instruments using established protocols
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and initiate corrective action
• Recognize deviations in test results, analyze problems using scientific principles, and take appropriate steps to resolve them
• Document corrective actions when testing deviates from acceptable guidelines
• Report all results in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with laboratory procedures
• Communicate supply needs and assist with departmental inventory management
• Maintain a safe, efficient working environment through equipment checks and regulatory compliance
• Support the laboratory supervisor as needed

Professional Development

• Stay current with professional knowledge through relevant literature and training
• Evaluate new testing methodologies and contribute to procedure development
• Recommend process improvements for operational efficiency

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, related science field, or equivalent experience
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of all laboratory areas
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Professional demeanor and sound judgment
