Medical-Surgical RN | Travel Contract | Birmingham, AL

Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 36 hours/week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: November 9, 2026

This Med-Surg unit manages a diverse adult patient population across a broad range of medical and surgical diagnoses, including cardiac, respiratory, and diabetic conditions, as well as pre- and post-operative surgical cases requiring wound care and pain management.

What You'll Do:

• Assess and monitor patients, responding to changes in condition and escalating care as appropriate
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Coordinate discharge planning alongside physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members
• Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements:

• Active RN license in Alabama or a valid compact license
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg experience required; prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• BSN preferred; ADN considered
• CMSRN certification preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage a varied patient caseload across acuity levels
