Labor & Delivery RN – 13-Week Contract
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week contract assignment. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week, primarily on night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
Requirements
- Active RN license in Alabama (or valid compact license)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications
- Minimum 1+ years of recent L&D experience
- Proven experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk obstetric conditions, and vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
- Travel nursing experience required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to laboring patients, monitoring maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
- Assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions; escalate concerns promptly
- Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and support epidural management per physician orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support during cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk OB emergencies including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
- Deliver immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
- Educate patients and families on labor progression and postpartum care
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation of all labor events and interventions
- Support families through the emotional and physical experience of childbirth
