Psychiatric / Mental Health RN — Night Shift | Saratoga Springs, NY
Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Start: November 2026
About the Unit
This inpatient adult psychiatric unit provides comprehensive care for patients managing a wide range of mental health diagnoses, including schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive and anxiety disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and substance use conditions. The unit operates as a locked inpatient environment with interdisciplinary support from pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, and respiratory services.
Clinical Skills & Responsibilities
- Administration of antipsychotics, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antianxiety agents, and sedatives
- Crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and managing assaultive behavior
- Physical hold protocols, seclusion procedures, and emergent chemical restraint
- Suicidal behavior monitoring and self-injurious behavior management
- Psychoeducation and voluntary/involuntary commitment processes
- Medication administration and interpretation/communication of lab values
Shift & Float
Candidates must be willing to float within the facility at the manager's discretion based on skillset. Weekend coverage is required.
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license (required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient psychiatric/mental health nursing experience
- BLS certification (required prior to start)
- Travel experience preferred
- Non-local only: Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of Saratoga Springs are not eligible
