Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced PCU RN for a 13-week day shift assignment in its Progressive Care Unit, caring for adults and geriatric patients with complex medical and surgical diagnoses.
Shift & Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to PCU, Medical-Surgical, and ED for patient boarding as needed
- 4th shift availability as needed
- Must work Christmas or New Year's Eve/Day
- Start date: November 17, 2026
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years PCU RN experience
- Active California RN license (no pending or temporary licenses)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- NIHSS preferred
- Supervisor or higher-level references required at time of submission (no charge nurse references)
- First-time travelers welcome
Clinical Scope
You will manage a 4-patient census and provide care across neuro/medical-surgical telemetry. Core competencies include:
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- Chest tube care and oxygen administration
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Telemetry monitoring and phlebotomy
- Pre- and post-hemodialysis management
- Wound care, IV starts, and isolation protocols
- Rapid Response and code team participation
Support & Resources
On-unit interdisciplinary team includes IV services, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services.
Pre-Start Compliance
Non-billable orientation modules (up to 2 hours) required before assignment begins.
