PCU Travel RN — Night Shift | Torrance, CA
Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: November 17, 2026
About the Unit
This step-down/PCU unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with complex medical and neurological needs, including telemetry monitoring, CVA management, and patients requiring drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Heparin. The unit also supports special procedures including TEE, cardioversion, and echo bubble studies. You'll work alongside a strong interdisciplinary team that includes respiratory services, IV teams, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, and social services.
Clinical Skills Required
- BiPAP/CPAP management and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias; continuous telemetry monitoring
- Chest tube care (PleurEvac)
- Pre/post hemodialysis management; renal failure patients
- Wound care/wound vac
- IV insertion and maintenance; phlebotomy
Scheduling & Float
- Every other weekend required
- Float to PCU, Med-Surg, and ED (for boarding patients at PCU/MS acuity)
- Must be available for an additional 4th shift as needed
- Holiday coverage required: must work Christmas or New Year's Eve and New Year's Day
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of PCU RN experience
- Active California RN license (no pending or temporary licenses accepted)
- ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Flu vaccine required — no exemptions
- Two supervisory references (supervisor level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) required at submission
