Labor & Delivery RN — Night Shift | Defiance, OH | 13-Week Contract

This opportunity is in a full-scope maternity unit supporting antepartum, LDRP, Level 1 Nursery, and Mother/Baby care. The unit manages a diverse, moderate-acuity patient population including neonates, infants, and adults, with strong interdisciplinary support from pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, phlebotomy, social services, and interpretation services.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope of practice expected

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks | Start: November 2026
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs provided

Required Certifications

• BLS, NRP

Clinical Scope

Nurses must be proficient across a broad range of obstetric and neonatal competencies, including:

• Antepartum , NST, external/internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement
• Management of pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, preterm labor, PROM, VBAC, malpresentations, and placenta previa/abruptio
• Magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives, anticoagulants, prostaglandins, and Terbutaline administration
• Assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction, C-section recovery, amnioinfusion
• Neonatal resuscitation, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, neonatal abstinence syndrome, phototherapy
• Postpartum couplet care, breastfeeding/lactation support, postpartum hemorrhage management
• Adult and neonatal cardiac arrest response

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience
• Charting system experience required
• Locals within 50 miles not accepted
• COVID and flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
