Float Pool RN – Telemetry / MedSurg / Stepdown

Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3 × 12-Hour Shifts | 13-Week Contract

Uniontown, PA | Start Date: November 2, 2026

This float pool position rotates across MedSurg, Stepdown/IMCU, Inpatient Rehab, and ED Holding. Candidates must be comfortable working across varying acuity levels and patient populations.

MedSurg Units

• Patient populations include post-surgical, orthopedic, ia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, and low-volume inpatient chemotherapy
• Manages remote telemetry patients monitored off-unit; nurses do not read strips
• Drips limited to heparin and comfort-measure opioids; no cardiac drips
• No CNAs on nights; resource nurse carries a full patient assignment
• Required certification: BLS

Stepdown / IMCU

• Heavy cardiac focus: dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from ICU
• Nurses serve as part of the central monitoring station and must independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Drip titration required: Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin; insulin is set-rate only
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7; RT and pharmacy on-site 24/7
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• May float to ICU as helping hands

Schedule & Logistics

• Rotating weekends (every other weekend) and holidays per permanent staff rotation
• Block scheduling permitted based on unit needs
• Orientation: 1–2 preceptor shifts depending on unit
• Scrub color: Navy blue (jackets must also be navy blue)
• Guaranteed 36 hours/week; cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
