Labor & Delivery RN — Family Birth Center
Mount Shasta, CA | 13-Week Contract | Days
This Family Birth Center serves a lower-volume, community-level L&D setting where you'll play a critical, hands-on role in all stages of labor, delivery, and immediate newborn care. The unit operates a small number of labor rooms, so candidates must be comfortable working as the primary — and at times only — on-site L&D nurse, with a second nurse available on call.
Shift Details
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-hour days
- Every other weekend required
- First to float (primarily to Med/Surg for tasking)
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Clinical Scope
- Full-spectrum intrapartum and antepartum care
- Newborn assessment and stabilization during cesarean sections, with support from respiratory therapy and anesthesia
- Patients at 36 weeks gestation or less are transferred to higher-acuity facilities
- Charge nurse responsibilities included
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience
- Active California RN license
- BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
- COVID vaccination required
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Ceil blue (facility-issued)
- Holidays rotate with permanent staff
- Orientation includes at least 2 days per unit floated to, adjusted for experience and comfort level
- Cancellation policy: up to 4 shifts over a 13-week assignment
