Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN | Nights | Des Moines, IA | 13-Week Contract
This night-shift opportunity is on an active med-surg telemetry unit providing care to a broad variety of medical-surgical patients. The unit maintains remote telemetry monitoring and manages patients on heparin drips. Travelers are expected to float across multiple campuses within the health system.
Shift Details
- Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Friday, Saturday, Sunday (3×12s, 36 hrs/week; 48-hr option available)
- Holiday coverage required: expect to work 1–2 of the following — Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's
- Scrubs: Navy blue, solid colors
Contract
- Duration: 13 weeks (extension strongly preferred)
- Start: November 9, 2026
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license
- Minimum 24 months of Med-Surg or Med-Surg Tele experience
- At least one completed travel contract within the past 18 months (no first-time travelers)
- Experience with heparin administration
- Charge nurse experience
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
- Telemetry/cardiac background
- Preceptor experience
- Med-surg/tele-specific skills checklist
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (verified by driver's license)
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, or director within the past 24 months
- Current driver's license required at submission
