Utilization Review RN — Remote | Torrance, CA | 13-Week Contract

This is a fully remote Utilization Review position supporting a centralized UM team across multiple inpatient and outpatient service lines. The role covers a broad scope including inpatient, Extended Hospital Outpatient, and observation levels of care, serving a diverse patient population that includes adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics with a variety of acute and chronic diagnoses.

Shift & Schedule

• Days, 5x8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM PST)
• Every other weekend rotation required for the duration of the contract
• Holiday commitment: must work 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Float between multiple supported facilities required; refusal to float may result in assignment termination

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license (compact license must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 3 years of acute hospital Care Manager/UM experience performing utilization review in a hospital setting — health plan or medical group experience does not qualify
• InterQual proficiency — hard stop
• Recent charting experience (within the last 6–12 months) — hard stop
• Medicare knowledge, including the 2-Midnight Rule, CC44s, ABNs, HINNs, and MCSNs — hard stop
• Familiarity with HMOs, IPAs, concurrent and retrospective review, DRG, CPT, and ICD-10 coding
• California and Medi-Cal experience preferred

• Laptop, keyboard, and mouse provided by the facility
• 40-hour orientation
• Strict adherence to California labor laws; no unapproved overtime or off-clock work
• 2 professional references required (covering at least 1 year within the last 3 years)
