RN – Medical/Surgical Telemetry | Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE Unit)

Columbia, SC | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This travel RN role is on a specialized Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit dedicated to hospitalized patients aged 65 and older. The unit provides telemetry-capable medical-surgical care with a strong emphasis on preserving cognitive and physical function and returning patients to their pre-admission baseline. A multidisciplinary team — including Geriatric Resource Nurses, physical therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response — supports patient care throughout the stay.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3×12-hour shifts
• Every-other-weekend requirement
• 13-week contract

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Active South Carolina or multistate RN license (no pending licenses)
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Proficiency in geriatric patient care

Key Clinical Skills

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Remote telemetry monitoring
• IV starts, blood product administration
• Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line management
• Heparin protocol management

Additional Details

• Float may be required to other qualified units based on census needs
• Pre-assignment modules and testing required within 48 hours of receiving login credentials (up to 16 hours reimbursable)
• Orientation held on Mondays
• Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required
