Travel CT Tech positions require active ARRT certification in the appropriate modality. Most facilities also expect current BLS certification through the American Heart Association. California requires a CRT (California Radiology Technologist) certificate issued by the CDPH Radiologic Health Branch. Fluoroscopy permits are required for certain modalities. Many facilities require ARRT (R) as a primary credential in addition to the CT specialty. IV certification or competency verification for contrast administration is increasingly standard. Facilities with Level I or II trauma designations may require demonstrated emergency CT experience. Submit your CRT application through the CDPH Radiologic Health Branch as soon as you have an offer — temporary permits are not routinely issued for radiologic technologists.
